Lighting Complex Interior - Bedroom

This was a project for my Lighting 2 class for which we were assigned 3 weeks to surfacing, light and composite a complex bedroom interior scene.
For this project, I decided that I wanted to challenge myself and do an evening golden hour scene which would be my first. This time of the day required me to do more research than I had initially expected because golden hour is something that it hard to capture in a closed environment through just windows as a light source. I had to find reference that matched some of the golden hour photographs that I had captured in the past years. Since this was my first project were I had to surface the objects in my scenes as a lighting artist with no prior surfacing knowledge, I struggled with surfacing the scenes in such as a way that the textures do not affect my lighting in ways that I don't want it to. After setting up the lights for this scene, I had to go back and make some surfacing choices to counteract the lights in such a way they don't look too dark in the scene. After this whole process just before render, I chose poster online that would fit the lighting style and better interact with the lighting in my environment.

This shot was challenging to light since I am much more comfortable lighting night scenes. But I had fun with this project as it helped me overcome these challenges and more acquainted with lighting midday scenes.
